Russia: Turkey has applied for full membership in BRICS, we will evaluate it.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Ushakov said, "Turkey has officially applied for full membership to BRICS, we will evaluate it."

Following the news that Turkey has applied for membership to BRICS, which was formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa in 2009, Russia has made a statement.

'TURKEY APPLIED FOR FULL MEMBERSHIP, WE WILL EVALUATE'

Russian Deputy President Yuri Ushakov stated that Turkey has made an official application to join BRICS. Speaking to journalists at the 9th Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok, Russia, Yuri Ushakov said, "Turkey has applied for full membership, we will evaluate it."

'THE PROCESS IS ONGOING, WE WILL SHARE IF THERE ARE CONCRETE DEVELOPMENTS'

Omer Celik, Deputy Chairman of the AK Party and Party Spokesperson, stated in a press conference yesterday that Turkey is open-minded about full membership to BRICS and said, "The process is ongoing, if there are concrete developments, we will share them."

Russian Deputy President Ushakov had previously stated in a statement that the official invitation for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's participation in the 16th BRICS Summit, which will be held in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia, on October 22-24, has been conveyed to Turkey.
