Tensions in the region escalated significantly with the entry of anti-regime armed groups into the city center of Aleppo, clashing with the forces of the Bashar al-Assad regime. Following this development, Russian forces began to strike Aleppo.
Opposition groups led by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) have launched a major operation against regime forces in Aleppo. In the clashes that have lasted for three days, the opposition has begun to enter the center of Aleppo.
RUSSIAN AIR STRIKE
Following the advance of HTS-affiliated groups in Syria, Russia took action. It was reported that Russian warplanes struck the center of Aleppo, and airstrikes were also carried out on Idlib, which is a central location for the opposition groups.
Additionally, it was noted that Russia conducted an airstrike on the opposition's headquarters in the Mare district of northern Syria in the morning hours.
PESKOV'S SUPPORT STATEMENT
Kremlin spokesman Peskov described the attack launched by jihadists led by HTS from Idlib to Aleppo as a 'threat to Syria's sovereignty.'
