The Romanian Ministry of Defense announced that a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) struck an apartment building in the city of Galati, causing a fire and injuring two people. Romania's NATO membership has heightened concerns that the Russia-Ukraine war could spread to NATO borders.

RUSSIAN DRONE STRIKES ROMANIA
In a statement from the Romanian Ministry of Defense, it was reported that a Russian drone hit an apartment building in the city of Galati.

The statement noted that the incident occurred on the night of May 28-29, saying: "Russia has resumed drone attacks on Ukrainian civilian and infrastructure targets near the river border with Romania. One of these drones entered Romanian airspace, was tracked by radar to the southern part of Galati city, and struck the roof of an apartment building, causing a fire."
STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED
It was recorded that as a precaution, 2 F-16 aircraft and 1 IAR 330 SOCAT helicopter of Romania were deployed, and RO-Alert (Emergency Warning) messages were sent to local residents. The Romanian Emergency Service shared that the fire was extinguished by teams sent to the area, and 2 people were injured in the incident.
Romania being a NATO member has heightened concerns that the Russia-Ukraine war could spill over to the alliance's borders.
