Egyptian star Mohamed Salah has extended his Liverpool contract, ending rumors of his potential departure from the Reds on a free transfer next year.

"Liverpool FC are delighted to announce Mohamed Salah has signed a new long-term contract with the club," Liverpool said in a statement on Friday.

After joining the English Premier League side from Roma in 2017, Salah became a vital part of the Reds with a remarkable 156 goals in 254 matches.

Salah won the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year award twice in 2017 and 2022.

He led the Reds to their first league title in three decades in 2020.

The 30-year-old forward also clinched the UEFA Champions League title, the FIFA Club World Cup and FA Cup with the Reds.

On his contract extension, Salah said: "I feel great and [I am] excited to win trophies with the club. It's a happy day for everyone."

"It takes a little bit of time, I think, to renew, but now everything is done so we just need to focus on what's next," he added. -
