The United States (US) has launched a new sanctions program targeting entities in Iran and Venezuela.
The US has imposed new sanctions on Iran and Venezuela. The US Department of State announced that it has added a total of 10 entities and individuals located in Iran and Venezuela to its sanctions list, stating that among these individuals and entities is a Venezuelan company that contributed to the sale of Iranian-made drones, as well as organizations and individuals supporting Iran's drone and ballistic missile programs.
SANCTIONS ON IRAN AND VENEZUELA
The Department noted that Iran's continued provision of weapons to Venezuela poses a threat to US interests in the region, stating, "Today's sanction decision underscores the importance of reapplying sanctions and other restrictions on Iran in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions. The entities and individuals designated today demonstrate that Iran is actively proliferating military drones and continues to supply materials related to missile programs in violation of UN restrictions."
"WE WILL CONTINUE TO PREVENT IRAN FROM OBTAINING NUCLEAR WEAPONS"
The Department emphasized that the US will continue to take action to restrict Iran's ballistic missile program, prevent the development of asymmetric and conventional weapon capabilities, stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, and block access to assets and resources that enable the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to carry out destabilizing activities.
