In Kastamonu, in the districts of Küre and Ağlı, where the snow depth has exceeded 1.5 meters in some places, life has come to a standstill. After the snowfall stopped, the snow covering the town center began to be transported by trucks, while citizens tried to retrieve their vehicles that were buried under the snow.
Due to the heavy snowfall that lasted for 4 days in Kastamonu, life came to a standstill in some districts. In Küre and Ağlı districts, the snow depth exceeded 1.5 meters in some areas. After the snowfall stopped, some citizens living in the district centers tried to find their vehicles buried under the snow, while others cleared the roofs of their houses with shovels due to the risk of collapse.
The teams from Ağlı Municipality and Küre Municipality are also working hard to clear the roads in the district center. The snow collected by heavy machinery is loaded onto trucks and transported outside the district. Teams from the 15th Regional Directorate of Highways are also continuing their snow plowing work on the roads. The teams from Kastamonu Provincial Special Administration and the Forest Regional Directorate are working tirelessly to open the more than 610 closed village roads without regard to working hours. Icicles several meters long have also formed on the roofs of buildings in Küre and Ağlı districts.
"THERE IS NEARLY 1.5 METERS OF SNOW" Uğur Ersöz, who lives in Küre district, said, "The summer was dry, we were without water. After a dry season, it snowed. We are happy, we are at peace. Right now, there is more than 1.5 meters of snow. Now we are looking for our vehicles. We are trying to find our vehicles, we will go out for service soon. We will go out for bread service," he said.
"WE ARE CLEARING THE SNOW OFF ONE BY ONE TO FIND OUR CAR" Bilal Tekeci, who is searching for his vehicle buried under the snow, stated, "We are stuck under the snow. It has been snowing for 4 days. Our vehicles have been under the snow for a week. We couldn't move them at all. The batteries are dead, our water has frozen, the electricity is out. Now that the weather has cleared, we are uncovering the vehicles one by one with shovels to see which one is ours. We uncover this one, it's not the vehicle, we uncover that one, it's not the vehicle. We are uncovering them in order. Let's see which vehicle will be mine," he said.
Ergün Demir, who stated that Küre is a winter town, said, "We are used to this kind of snow. We love our hometown. We have seen 2.5 meters of snow. It has been snowing for 4 days. Right now, there is nearly 2 meters of snow depth. We managed to get our vehicle out from under the snow. We tried to get it out, and we were able to do it with difficulty. Our vehicle has been stuck here since it started snowing, it was just sitting there," he said.
Hanife Baş also stated, "Right now, the snow depth has exceeded 1.5 meters. We continue to serve our people under all difficult conditions. Our schools have been closed. Thank goodness our mayor is trying to clear the roads. We are also trying to provide our services without interruption," she expressed.
