On the 86th anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's death, feces were smeared on one of the two different Atatürk busts located in the Umurcalı and Yeniköy neighborhoods of the Kiraz district in İzmir, while a sack was placed over the other bust. The CHP Provincial Presidency, Kiraz Municipality, CHP Kiraz District Presidency, and the village heads filed a criminal complaint regarding the attack on the Atatürk busts on November 10.

I curse those who carried out these attacks, which are clearly planned. Those who hope for such treacherous attacks should know that we will not hesitate to protect his sacred memory and the republic at the cost of our lives. I believe that our police and gendarmerie forces will find these traitors and that the necessary punishment will be given before justice.
