Thousands of jellyfish washed up on the shores of Kuleli in Üsküdar. On the other hand, the trash accumulated along the beach caused environmental pollution. A local resident stated, "It is not normal to have this many jellyfish. It is entirely due to marine pollution and people's indifference. It threatens our future." Another citizen expressed that there are significantly more jellyfish compared to previous years.
The surface of the sea at the Kuleli coast in Üsküdar was almost completely covered with jellyfish. The numerous jellyfish washed ashore created a spectacle that visitors watched in amazement. In addition to the jellyfish, the plastic waste, bags, and various trash accumulated along the coastline also contributed to environmental pollution.
Citizens complained about the visual pollution caused by both the dense accumulation of jellyfish and the surrounding litter, calling on the authorities to increase cleaning efforts. This scene also reminded people of the mucilage problem experienced in the Sea of Marmara.
"THIS IS NOT NORMAL"
Cemalettin Değer, a local resident, stated that having so many jellyfish is not normal, saying, "This situation is entirely due to sea pollution and people's indifference. It threatens our future. Immediate action needs to be taken. There is everything you want on the beach. All the waste coming from the streams meets in the sea. Having this many jellyfish is not normal; it is entirely due to sea pollution," he said.
"MUCH MORE THAN IN PREVIOUS YEARS"
Another citizen named Muammer expressed that there are many more jellyfish compared to previous years, stating, "It used to be rare, but today there are a lot of jellyfish. I don't know why. They come to clean, but they can't take much. There weren't this many last year; this year is excessive. I don't know why. Is mucilage triggering it? Strange things are happening this year," he said.
