A 6.1 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir caused great panic in many cities, especially in Balıkesir.
The earthquake occurred at 22:48 with a magnitude of 6.1. AFAD stated that the earthquake took place at a depth of 5.99 kilometers.
FELT IN SURROUNDING PROVINCES
The earthquake was felt not only in Balıkesir but also in İzmir, Bursa, Istanbul, and Kocaeli; citizens experienced great panic.
After reports of collapsed buildings in the region, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 3 buildings and 1 shop, which had been evacuated due to damage from the earthquake on August 10, had collapsed, but there were no casualties.
