Singer and model Tuğba Özay received a scientific response when she suggested that the airplane trails in the sky are not normal cloud formations. Mikdat Kadıoğlu, a faculty member of the Department of Meteorological Engineering at ITU, stated, "I am fed up with the conspiracy theories about airplane trails. We are faced with hundreds of official and unofficial questions because of the ignorant people who look up at the sky and speak as if they understand something." He clarified that those trails are known as "contrails."
Actress and former model Tuğba Özay claimed in a post on her social media account that Turkey is being subjected to "chemical spraying," urging authorities to convene urgently and bring the issue to the agenda of the Parliament. Özay showed the trail left by planes in the sky, asserting that these are not clouds but "chemical spraying."
A scientific response to these claims came from the meteorology front.
"THESE ARE AIRCRAFT CONTRAILS"
Following Özay's claims, Mikdat Kadıoğlu, a faculty member of the Department of Meteorological Engineering at ITU, stated that the images in question are condensation trails known as "contrails."
Kadıoğlu explained that the water vapor emitted from jet engines rapidly condenses into ice crystals at low temperatures at high altitudes, creating white lines in the sky. Emphasizing that this is a physical and atmospheric process, Kadıoğlu stressed that there is no scientific basis for the claims of chemical spraying.
"I'M TIRED OF CONSPIRACY THEORIES"
Kadıoğlu, commenting on social media, said, "I am tired and fed up with the conspiracy theories about aircraft trails. We are faced with hundreds of official and unofficial questions because of ignorant people who look at the sky and speak as if they understand something."
Kadıoğlu added, "They have very big ideas without any basic knowledge. People think they know everything, but they only know their limits. It's pointless to say anything. There is no scientific basis for what is being said."
