Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan and 12 others were detained on charges of corruption as part of an investigation conducted by the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The investigation alleges that the suspects pressured the managers of certain supermarkets between April 2024 and November 2024 to benefit the Bolu Municipality Joint Stock Company.
As part of the investigation conducted by the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an operation was launched on the charge of bribery, defined as coercing a public official to misuse the influence provided by their position to gain unfair benefits for themselves or others. Bolu Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams carried out simultaneous operations in the early hours of the morning.
13 PEOPLE, INCLUDING TANJU ÖZCAN, HAVE BEEN DETAINED
In the operation carried out under the instruction of the prosecutor's office, 13 people, including Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan, were detained. Tanju Özcan announced his detention on his social media account, stating, "I was detained by the gendarmerie."

THE REASON FOR THE DETENTION HAS BEEN REVEALED
According to a report by Habertürk; the reason for the detention of Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan has been revealed. In the prosecutor's investigation file, it is alleged that 13 municipal officials, including Özcan, misused the influence provided by their positions.
It is claimed that between April 2024 and November 2024, they coerced six managers of SHOK, A101, BIM, Carrefoursa, Avantaj, and Nuhmar markets to benefit the Bolu Municipality Joint Stock Company, causing them to be victimized.
