A security alert was issued at the British base Akrotiri in the Greek Cypriot Administration. While sirens were sounding, residents in civilian areas were also advised not to leave their homes.
A security alarm was reported to have been sounded with sirens in the British sovereign base of Akrotiri (Agarutur) located in the Southern Cyprus Administration (GKRY) and in the surrounding settlements.
SIRENS SOUNDED IN SOUTHERN CYPRUS
According to news in the Greek Cypriot press, sirens were sounded at the British Akrotiri Base in GKRY due to a security alarm starting from 23:15 local time (00:15 TRT).
It was noted that a security warning was also issued in the civilian settlements in the area, and civilians were asked not to leave their homes.
The Greek Cypriot press claimed that the alarm in the base area was triggered by an object seen on radars in the region. A drone had crashed into the Akrotiri Base on March 2.
US-ISRAEL ATTACKS ON IRAN
Israel and the US launched a military attack on Iran on February 28 while negotiations were ongoing between the Tehran and Washington administrations.
Iran responded with attacks on targets it identified in several regional countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain, where US bases are located, in addition to Israel.
In the US-Israel attacks, many high-ranking officials, including Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, were killed.
Iran's Health Ministry Spokesman Hossein Kermanpur announced that the number of fatalities in the US-Israel attacks has risen to 926.
