In the Van-Iran border line, where the construction of concrete walls and trench digging works are ongoing, security forces ensure safety with the measures they take by utilizing all the capabilities of technology. In Van, which has the longest border with neighboring Iran, efforts are being made to prevent illegal immigration, stop smuggling activities, and prevent PKK terrorists from infiltrating the country. In the region where 70% of the 295-kilometer border line has been completed with concrete walls, work continues in the remaining sections.
Alongside the security wall, trench digging works are ongoing on the border line, where the area is monitored with day and night surveillance devices and radars mounted on electro-optical and elevator towers. The security wall, which has three rows of barbed wire on top, is planned to be completed next year.
SECURITY FORCES ON DUTY 24/7
In the area where the border is kept under control with the security wall, trench works, and technological investments, border units operate 24/7 in the rugged and hilly geography at an altitude of 2,500 meters. Security forces, who carry out patrol and operational activities with tactical wheeled armored new-generation vehicles, detect tunnels, caves, and storage facilities with tunnel/void detection devices. Border units, which conduct reconnaissance, surveillance, protection, and attack missions in dangerous and challenging terrains with remotely controlled and autonomous unmanned ground vehicles, drones, and unmanned aerial vehicles, take both physical measures at culverts and use photo traps that can provide instant alerts and image transmission to prevent the passage of terrorists and irregular migrants. At the border, where an air defense cannon and turret (anti-aircraft) mounted armored personnel carriers capable of active defense against UAV, drone, and paramotor threats are deployed, security is kept at a high level thanks to sniper teams and commando units.
