The judicial control decision imposed on famous singer Serdar Ortaç for allegedly making illegal betting advertisements and encouraging people to do so has been lifted. Following the decision, the singer, who reopened his social media account after being detained in recent weeks, published a striking video.

"This was a very big lesson for me. I drank alcohol for 30 years, and I decided to quit overnight. Let what happened to me be a lesson for everyone. I repent, let everyone learn from this."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Against singer Serdar Ortaç, an indictment was prepared with a request for a prison sentence of 1 to 3 years for the crime of 'encouraging individuals to advertise and otherwise promote fixed odds or joint betting or gambling based on sports competitions' due to allegations of making illegal betting advertisements and encouraging people to do so. While the investigation was ongoing, Serdar Ortaç was brought to the courthouse and the duty judge ruled for a judicial control measure in the form of 'house arrest.' The date for Serdar Ortaç to appear before the judge was also determined. His trial will begin on December 24 at the Istanbul 25th Criminal Court of First Instance, and in the interim decision of the preliminary ruling before the first hearing, it was decided to continue the judicial control measure. As a result of the objection made to the court through Ortaç's lawyer, the judicial control measure in the form of 'house arrest' was lifted.
