Famous presenter Seren Serengil has decided to enter politics in order to stand against the dog massacre and to fight more effectively for animal rights. Serengil announced that she will enter politics to protect animals.

The brutality that took place in the shelter for street animals in the Gebze district of Kocaeli deeply shocked the public. The recorded footage from a distance showed moments when a cute dog was killed while wagging its tail. The bodies of other dogs that were killed with a needle were thrown into the trash.

I WILL ENTER THE PARLIAMENT FOR STREET ANIMALS

After the animal massacre, famous singer, actress, and presenter Seren Serengil could not remain indifferent and went to the Ümraniye Animal Shelter to express her reaction. Serengil announced that she would be a candidate for parliament in the next general elections and stated the following:

"Using my fame for the benefit of these animals and these living beings is my civic duty. I am not in a state of ignoring like my friends. Are you at ease? I am not. As an artist, let alone everything, as someone who loves, is my fame only this much?

I will fight for this to the end. I am not going to enter anywhere nor am I a politician; but from now on, I will. Because someone from us has to be there. It was something I hated, but when the parliament passes this law, there are people who smile. I am considering being a candidate if the public supports me in some way; on their behalf, because we need someone to speak on our behalf."

GEBZE MUNICIPALITY DENIED THE ALLEGATIONS

On the other hand, Gebze Municipality stated in a statement regarding the incidents that they took action after the footage circulating on social media. The statement said, "The visuals shared with the public regarding the dead street animals: 16 street dogs collected lifelessly by our teams from our Balçık Shelter area and our streets, 3 dogs that lost their lives due to traffic accidents in Gebze, and 10 dogs that could not be saved due to their health problems belong to them."

The municipality stated that the reports of these incidents have been submitted to the relevant units and an investigation has been initiated regarding the matter. It was also expressed that the Gebze Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has started an investigation regarding the footage.

It is stated that approximately 10,000 street animals live in the Gebze region, while it was emphasized that continuous efforts are being made by the municipality's Veterinary Directorate for the healthy living of street animals. This situation has caused a significant reaction among animal lovers and the public.
