A thief who targeted visually impaired individuals' cell phones at metro stations in Ankara was caught in a police operation. It was learned that the apprehended individual admitted in his statement to the police that he had stolen before and he would not deny it.

A person named L.U. (40) in Ankara was found to be stealing cell phones by approaching visually impaired individuals at metro stations under the pretext of helping them. Ankara Police Department's Criminal Investigation Bureau initiated an operation to apprehend the suspect, and the Surveillance Unit started monitoring 5 different metro stations. L.U. was caught at Atatürk Cultural Center Metro Station and taken into custody, while the person who bought the stolen phones was also apprehended shortly after. The recovered phones were returned to their owners.

IT WAS REVEALED THAT HE HAS 32 CRIMINAL RECORDS

In his statement to the police, L.U. admitted his guilt by saying, "I have done this before, I won't deny it. I stole them under the pretext of saving my phone number. I regret it." It was revealed that L.U. had a total of 32 criminal records in 9 different cases opened in his name.

Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Bureau arrested 5 other individuals who committed similar crimes.
