The US-based Norwegian robotics company 1X Technologies has started taking pre-orders for its humanoid robot NEO, designed to automate household chores. Aiming to simplify daily life, NEO can be controlled via voice commands or a mobile application.
EMPTYING THE DISHWASHER, FOLDING LAUNDRY
Described as "the future home assistant," NEO can autonomously perform tasks such as opening doors, fetching items, and controlling lights. It also has features like taking laundry to the machine, loading dishes, sweeping floors, and tidying up. The robot, which is approximately 1.65 meters tall and weighs 30 kilograms, stands out with its capacity to carry loads of up to 25 kilograms.
1X Technologies CEO Bernt Børnich stated that NEO can empty the dishwasher in 5 minutes and fold laundry in 15 minutes.
NOT FULLY AUTONOMOUS BUT A TURNING POINT
According to experts, NEO is not yet a fully autonomous system and requires human control for complex tasks. Nevertheless, the project is seen as an important turning point in making home-type humanoid robots commercially available.
HOW MUCH IS THE CLEANING ROBOT?
Available in three different colors: sand, gray, and dark brown, NEO is open for pre-order on 1X's official website. The robot can be purchased for $20,000 (approximately 840,000 TL) under early access or rented through a subscription model for $499 per month (approximately 21,000 TL).
Expected to open a new chapter in humanoid robot technologies, NEO is considered the beginning of human-robot collaboration in household labor in the future.
