President Erdoğan received German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the Presidential Complex. After the meeting, a brief tension arose between the two leaders in front of the cameras due to the Gaza issue.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the Presidential Complex. After the inter-delegation meeting, Merz and Erdoğan held a joint press conference.
"GERMANY HAS ALWAYS STOOD BY ISRAEL"
In the question and answer session, the German leader responded to a question regarding their support for Israel on the Gaza issue by saying, "The federal state has been by Israel's side since its establishment. This country has become a refuge for millions of Jews. Therefore, Germany will always stand by Israel. Since October 7, we have also been by Israel's side."
"DON'T YOU SEE THIS?"
Following these words, President Erdoğan intervened, stating, "I do not agree with a part of the Chancellor's speech. Unfortunately, during this process, more than 60,000 children, women, and elderly people have been killed here. Hamas does not have bombs or nuclear weapons. All these weapons are in the hands of Israel. Last night, they again used these bombs to strike Gaza. As Germany, do you not see this? They have been trying to discipline Gaza with hunger, and this continues to this day."
