In the Çine district of Aydın, it is claimed that 490 citizens lost 100 million lira to a pyramid scheme established through an application called Stonex. One of the victims stated, "I started talking to a woman on social media. She mentioned the application called Stonex to me."
It is claimed that hundreds of citizens in Aydın's Çine district have fallen victim to fraudsters. Through the Stonex application, 490 people lost 100 million TL in a pyramid scheme.
THE SYSTEM TURNED INTO A HUGE SCAM
According to a report in Yeni Asır newspaper, investment opportunities were explained to citizens one by one in groups created within the Stonex application. While it was stated that the system would provide high returns in the long term, citizens did not experience problems in the initial periods. However, after a while, the system turned into a huge scam.
"WE STARTED TALKING THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA"
Mustafa Bozdağ, one of the victims, stated that he started his involvement through a person he met via social media, whom he trusted. He expressed his regret for being the beginning of the pyramid scheme that led to many people in the district being victimized, saying, "We started talking through social media with a woman who introduced herself as B.S. She told me about the application called Stonex."
"I STARTED WITH 300 LIRAS WHEN I JOINED THE APPLICATION"
Believing the fraudster who claimed that the application entered the Istanbul Stock Exchange in 2016, had a license, and was legal, Bozdağ said, "I started with 300 liras when I joined this application." The victims have filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office.
