Turk-Is President Ergün Atalay announced that they will not participate in the commission meetings if no new regulations are made regarding the structure of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission.

The marathon for the minimum wage increase has begun. Millions of workers are eagerly awaiting the outcome from the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which will determine the minimum wage to be applied in 2026. TÜRK-İŞ is demanding a change in the representation balance and decision-making processes in the Minimum Wage Determination Commission. TÜRK-İŞ General President Ergün Atalay, who made a statement on the matter, announced that they would not participate in the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which is expected to start its meetings in December, if its structure does not change.

"WE WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IF THE REGULATION DOES NOT CHANGE"

Atalay stated in a press conference at the TÜRK-İŞ General Center, "We expressed this to the Minister last week as well. If this regulation does not change, we will not participate here," he said.

Atalay added, "But we will continue to voice the problems of minimum wage earners every day, every minute. If the regulation changes as soon as possible, we will act according to the decision we will make with the board of presidents. It doesn't matter to us if other unions outside of us are involved in this matter," he stated.

HAK-İŞ ALSO DECIDED NOT TO PARTICIPATE

Atalay had reacted to the determination of the minimum wage as gross 26,005 TL and net 22,104 TL for the year 2025, which was a 30% increase last year. Regarding this year's Minimum Wage Determination Commission meetings, HAK-İŞ, which is also a worker representative in the Commission alongside TÜRK-İŞ, had also decided not to participate.

DİSK: THE MINIMUM WAGE FOR 2026 SHOULD NOT BE BELOW 45,000 TL

DİSK General President Arzu Çerkezoğlu made a striking call ahead of the minimum wage discussions for 2026, which will start in December. Speaking live, Çerkezoğlu stated that the minimum wage has now become an average wage and that a family of four cannot exceed the poverty line (92,547 TL), arguing that the minimum wage for 2026 should not be below 45,000 TL.
