A teacher who is in custody and accused of sexually abusing six female students at a private school in the Kartepe district of Kocaeli appeared before a judge. During the hearing, the detained teacher denied the allegations against him, while some of the victimized children stated that the teacher threatened them by saying, "You will end up like Narin" if they told their families about the situation.
It was claimed that a detained teacher, who allegedly sexually abused 6 female students at a private school, threatened the students by saying, "You will end up like Narin."
M.A., a classroom teacher at a private school in Kartepe district of Kocaeli, allegedly sexually abused 6 female students at different times during the 2023-2024 academic years.
HE WAS ARRESTED
Following a complaint, M.A. was detained on January 7 and was arrested by the court he was brought to on January 8. After the teacher's arrest, an indictment was prepared against him.
UP TO 204 YEARS IN PRISON SOUGHT
The prepared indictment stated that M.A. committed qualified sexual abuse against children under the age of 12 and threatened them. The prosecutor requested that M.A. be sentenced to a total of 84 years and 6 months to 204 years and 5 months in prison for the following: for the crime of 'Sexual abuse of a child in a chain' against 4 children, with an increase due to the suspect being an educator and abusing the influence provided by his public duty, from 15 years to 39 years and 4 months and 15 days; for the crime of 'Sexual abuse of a child' against 2 children, with an increase from 12 years to 22 years and 6 months; and for the crime of 'Threat' against 1 child, from 6 months to 2 years. The indictment was accepted by the Kocaeli 1st Heavy Criminal Court.
HE APPEARED IN COURT FOR THE FIRST TIME
The first hearing of the case was held today at the Kocaeli 1st Heavy Criminal Court. The passionate defendant M.A., the families of the victimized children, and the lawyers of the parties were present at the hearing. The children participated in the hearing via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS).
SHOCKING THREAT ALLEGATION
The parents of the victimized children who were heard regarding the incident stated that they had filed a complaint against M.A. Some of the children who claimed to have been abused also stated that M.A. threatened them by saying, "You will end up like Narin" if they told their families.
TEACHER HEARD AS A WITNESS
Teacher I.M., who was heard as a witness, said, "When he behaved inappropriately towards me and made jokes, I withdrew. He made a lot of sexual jokes." I.M. stated that M.A. watched female students while they were showering during swimming lessons and said, "I reported what I witnessed and what happened to the school administration, but no measures were taken."
M.A., who has been married for 22 years and is a father of 1 child, denied the allegations in his defense during the hearing, stating that he had no contact with the students.
POSTPONED TO NOVEMBER 12
The court panel decided to continue the defendant's detention and postponed the hearing to November 12 to address the deficiencies in the case file.
