Speaking and Language Therapist Associate Professor Dr. Mehmet Emrah Cangi, who was a guest on the Haberler.com YouTube channel, stated that someone who does not speak fluently can also be a genius, saying, "Rhetoric and fluent speech are associated with intelligence, but there are counterexamples to this."
Speech and Language Therapist Associate Professor Dr. Mehmet Emrah Cangi answered the questions of Clinical Psychologist Metin Aydın on Haberler.com.
"A PERSON WHO DOES NOT SPEAK FLUENTLY CAN ALSO BE A GENIUS"
Cangi stated, "Rhetoric and fluent speech are associated with intelligence, but there are counterexamples," and added, "There are very intelligent individuals with high comprehension who even lead society, but they do not speak fluently. Think of the components of language processing working like a factory, in a very synchronized manner. They need to exhibit similar characteristics."
Cangi also remarked, "This can create an imbalance. Or everything can be very good; there is a genius there, but there is a deficiency related to auditory processing, related to timing. There is no obstacle to being a genius; one may not be fluent either. A person who does not speak fluently can also be a genius."
"DEVELOPMENT IS POSSIBLE AT ANY AGE"
Additionally, Cangi stated, "Complex, very complicated words, thinking of the child at their own level, all of these are components that hinder language development," and emphasized that development is possible at any age.
