The Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş, called for a General Assembly meeting on August 16th for Can Atalay. Prior to the highly anticipated meeting, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç made a noteworthy statement. The Constitutional Court ruled that the dismissal of Can Atalay's parliamentary membership is null and void. Following the decision, opposition parties consisting of CHP, DEM Party, Saadet Party, TİP, DEVA, Democratic Party, and Labor Party submitted a petition to the Presidency of the GNAT for the Assembly to convene regarding the Atalay decision by the Constitutional Court. Speaker Kurtulmuş called for the General Assembly to convene on August 16th, 2024, Friday at 14:00, in response to the extraordinary meeting request made with the signatures of a sufficient number of MPs.
