Steve Witkoff, Special Representative of U.S. President Donald Trump, stated regarding the ongoing peace agreement negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, "We are discussing options related to the land issue. This is the most critical topic, and we will continue the discussions within this framework. I hope we can reach an agreement on certain concessions in this matter."
While efforts continue to end the war between Russia and Ukraine that has been ongoing since 2022, a notable statement came from the USA, which is mediating between the two sides.
USA: "WE HOPE TO REACH AN AGREEMENT"
Steve Witkoff, Special Representative of US President Donald Trump, spoke about the ongoing peace agreement negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
Witkoff stated, "We are discussing options regarding the territorial issue," adding, "This is the most critical topic, and we will continue discussions within this framework. I hope we can reach an agreement on certain concessions regarding this matter."
WHAT HAPPENED?
In a statement made on December 11, US President Trump emphasized that they no longer wanted to waste time regarding the Russia-Ukraine issue, saying, "We will decide whether to participate in the meeting or not. We said we would attend if they think there is a good chance."
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated last week that they had "productive" meetings with the US delegation consisting of US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.
In a statement to American CNN, US and Ukrainian officials expressed that after the mentioned meetings, the Ukrainian side conveyed its response to Trump's 20-point peace plan on December 10.
