Two university students who were climbing Hasandağı in Aksaray became stranded on the snow-covered ground. A military helicopter dispatched to the area with the intervention of AFAD, gendarmerie, and UMKE teams safely transported the students to the hospital.
University students Hikmet Yıldız and Yusuf Güney, who were stranded while climbing Hasandağı in Aksaray, were rescued by a military helicopter.
STRANDED ON SNOWY GROUND
Final year students Hikmet Yıldız (22) and Yusuf Güney (22) from Necmettin Erbakan University in Konya climbed Hasandağı in Aksaray. Stranded on the snowy and cold ground, the students called the 112 Emergency Call Center for help.
50 PEOPLE SEARCHED FOR THEM
Upon the notification, a search and rescue team consisting of 50 personnel from AFAD, gendarmerie, and UMKE was directed to the area. Additionally, a military helicopter was called to the region, and the students were taken from their location to Aksaray Training and Research Hospital.
THEY FACED THE RISK OF FROSTBITE
Aksaray Governor Mehmet Ali Kumbuzoğlu, who visited the students in the hospital, stated, "They faced the risk of frostbite, but their health is good. Hasandağı is a beautiful place when covered in snow, but unauthorized climbs are risky. Therefore, we ask our citizens to be careful."
WARNING FROM AUTHORITIES
Governor Kumbuzoğlu emphasized the importance of climbing with permission, stating, "Such incidents occur when climbing is done without permission. We want our citizens to take the necessary precautions for their safety."
