By the decree signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the personnel strength of the Russian Armed Forces has been increased by 27,000 people, reaching 2,426,130. The regulation will come into effect on August 1.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree increasing the number of personnel in the Russian army.
According to the decree published on the Russian State Legal Information System, the total number of personnel in the Russian Armed Forces has been set at 2,426,130. Of these, 1,535,000 will be soldiers. The decree will come into effect on August 1.
INCREASE OF 27,000 PEOPLE
With the new regulation, the total number of personnel in the Russian army was increased by 27,000. Of this increase, 25,000 were soldiers.
Putin, with a previous decree signed in June 2026, had increased the number of personnel in the Russian army to a total of 2,399,130, including 1,510,000 soldiers.
OVER 700,000 SOLDIERS ARE SERVING IN UKRAINE
In a statement made at the end of last year, Putin noted that over 700,000 Russian soldiers are serving in the war in Ukraine. Additionally, contract and volunteer soldiers are also serving in the Russian army as part of the war in Ukraine.
