Sudan's Former President Tests Positive For COVID-19

Many former senior officials also infected with coronavirus, says Al Bashir’s lawyer.

Sudan's former President Omar al-Bashir has tested positive for COVID-19 at Kober prison in the capital Khartoum, where he has been held since his ouster in April 2019, his lawyer Mohamed Alhassan Alamin said Monday.

Sudanese authorities have not commented on the news so far.

Alamin said that other former senior officials have also been infected, including Vice President Ali Osman Mohammed Taha, Al-Bashir's assistant Nafia Ali Nafia and Al-Bashir's brother Ali Al-Bashir. -
