New details have emerged in the betting and match-fixing investigation that has shaken Turkish football. From the WhatsApp messages of the arrested goalkeeper Yunus Emre Tekoğul, it has been determined that he intended to manipulate match results and generate income through betting. A message he sent to a friend stating, "guarantee the kg, I will definitely concede a goal," is considered one of the strongest pieces of evidence in the prosecutor's possession. This scandal has been recorded as one of the most serious betting cases in the history of Turkish football.
As the betting and match-fixing investigation that has shaken Turkey deepens, messages extracted from the digital materials of the arrested football players have escalated the scale of the scandal. According to a report by Akşam newspaper, both legal and illegal betting slips and messages were found on Yunus Emre Tekoğul's phone. Even more striking were the WhatsApp messages he sent to his friend.
"GUARANTEE THE OVER, I WILL DEFINITELY CONCEDE A GOAL"
It was claimed that the goalkeeper, who was found to have placed bets on his own matches during his time wearing the Sakaryaspor jersey, said in his WhatsApp conversations, "Come on, we will arrange the match. Dude, even Umut is going to the match, guarantee the over, I will definitely concede a goal." This message is seen as one of the strongest pieces of evidence in the hands of the prosecutor.
Tekoğul's response to the question, "Is Manisa bad, will you win?" clearly shows the intention to directly influence the outcome of the match.
"YOU MADE ME WIN WELL, MY YUNUS"
The correspondence also included statements regarding the sharing of money won through betting:
- Selim Y.: "You made me win well, my Yunus."
- Yunus Emre Tekoğul: "How much did you win?"
- Selim Y.: "400."
- Tekoğul: "50 is mine."
These statements reveal that income was generated through betting and that the player received a share of it.
BETTING ON MATCH RESULTS WAS ALSO DETECTED
According to the MASAK report, Tekoğul had a membership on a legal betting platform, and it was determined that he placed a bet on the Fatih Karagümrük – Sakaryaspor match played on October 5, 2024, stating "The opponent will win." That match ended with a 4-0 victory for Karagümrük. Illegal betting messages, slip images, and site information content found in the digital materials were also added to the file.
