The leader of the İYİ Party, Müsavat Dervişoğlu, stated after his party's group meeting regarding Selahattin Demirtaş, "I do not agree with his actions and statements, but I believe that the limitation or restoration of a person's freedom should be realized in law and justice, not by politicians."
The Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), Devlet Bahçeli, recently stated after his party's group meeting that "His release will be beneficial for Turkey" regarding the former co-chair of the HDP, Selahattin Demirtaş, and these words caused a significant reaction. The leader of the Good Party, Müsavat Dervişoğlu, also made a striking statement about Demirtaş to reporters after today's group meeting.
"I DO NOT AGREE WITH HIS ACTIONS AND STATEMENTS, BUT…"
In response to a question from journalists regarding the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruling on Selahattin Demirtaş's violation of rights, Dervişoğlu said, "I am aware of yesterday's decision. I do not find the application of these decisions in politics appropriate. I believe we should have a common stance in favor of the law and justice prevailing rather than interests."
Dervişoğlu continued his statement by saying, "As you know, I do not agree with Selahattin Demirtaş's actions and statements, but I believe that the limitation or restoration of a person's freedom should be realized in law and justice, not in politics."
ECHR'S VIOLATION OF RIGHTS DECISION HAS BECOME FINAL
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) rejected the appeal made by the Ministry of Justice regarding the second violation and release decision concerning Selahattin Demirtaş's detention, thus finalizing the violation of rights decision. Following this decision, Demirtaş's lawyers applied to the Ankara Regional Court of Appeal for their client's release.
