Mahmut Ülker, who runs a tea garden in Afyonkarahisar, found a bag near his house. Ülker stated that there were 500,000 TL in the bag, which was filled with dollars, gold, and Turkish lira, and he handed it over to the police. Regarding this incident that proves "humanity is not dead," Ülker said, "I did what I had to do, and this is what should have happened. Crying over someone's property won't benefit anyone, so let's always be rational."
The owner of a tea garden in Dinar district of Afyonkarahisar, Mahmut Ülker, proved that humanity is not dead. Ülker found a bag on top of a wall near his house. After checking the contents of the bag, Ülker saw that there was a total of 500,000 TL in dollars, gold, and Turkish lira.
Ülker took the bag and went home, and for a while, he tried to find the owner of the bag, but when he couldn't find them, he and his wife went to the police station. The police officers took the bag from Ülker after making a record.
RECEIVED AN AWARD FROM THE VILLAGE HEADMAN
The governor of Dinar district, Kemal Duru, and the headman of Karahacalı village, where Ülker operates his tea garden, rewarded Ülker for his behavior with a certificate of appreciation.
Ülker, for this exemplary behavior, said, "Humanity comes first, money is always secondary. I did what I had to do, and this is what should have happened. When I found the bag, I waited for 15 minutes in case the owner showed up, then my wife and I took it to the police station and handed it over to the police. Crying doesn't benefit the one who owns it, and let's always be sensible."
POLICE REACHED THE OWNER OF THE BAG
After conducting investigations, the police reached the owner of the bag. They handed over the bag, which contained approximately 500,000 TL worth of jewelry and money, to its owner without any missing items.
