Eighteen-year-old Axel Rudakubana was sentenced to 52 years in prison for the attack that killed three children. Despite the fact that ricin poison and an Al-Qaeda handbook were found in the attacker's home, the police do not classify the attack as a terrorist act. The attacker had previously been reported to the counter-terrorism program Prevent three times, but no intervention was made. Following the attack, nationwide protests occurred, and the government launched a public inquiry to investigate the incident.

Axel Rudakubana (18) was sentenced to 52 years in prison for killing Bebe King (6), Elsie Dot Stancombe (7), and Alice Dasilva Aguiar (9) in an attack on July 29.

Police camera footage shows Rudakubana arriving at the dance class by taxi and refusing to pay the driver. The attacker, wearing a surgical mask, enters the community center where 26 children are present through a side staircase.

At Liverpool Crown Court, details about the children's injuries were not disclosed at the request of the victims' families. Judge Goose stated that Rudakubana would have killed all 26 children if he had the chance.

Labour Party leader Keir Starmer said, "This was a barbarity, and as the judge pointed out, this despicable criminal will likely never be released."

After being arrested, the attacker said at the police station, "It was good that the children died... I am very happy," and was removed from the hearing after claiming, "I am sick." The victims' families described him as a "coward."

Despite ricin poison and an Al-Qaeda handbook being found at Rudakubana's home, police do not consider the attack a terrorist act. The attacker had previously been reported to the counter-terrorism program Prevent three times, but no intervention was made.

On the day of the attack, while the children were singing Taylor Swift songs and making friendship bracelets, Rudakubana entered with a 20 cm knife. Dance teacher Leanne Lucas shielded the children with her own body and was injured.

Police found knives purchased from Amazon and materials used to make poison at the attacker's home. It was revealed that Cardiff-born Rudakubana had been expelled from school due to his obsession with violence and interest in school shootings.

Protests erupted nationwide following the attack. The government launched a public inquiry to investigate the incident.
