It has been learned that Semih Çelik, who committed suicide by jumping from the walls after murdering two 19-year-old girls in Istanbul on Friday, had been a patient at the Psychiatry Department of Istanbul University’s Çapa Medical Faculty for one year, receiving psychological treatment and medication at regular intervals, but had no record of hospitalization.

On Friday at around 16:00 in the Derviş Ali Neighborhood on Fevzipaşa Street in Fatih, Istanbul, Semih Çelik (19) murdered İkbal Uzuner (19) and Ayşenur Halil (19) half an hour apart. Semih Çelik, who climbed onto the Edirnekapı walls, beheaded İkbal Uzuner, whom he had killed, and threw her head down, then committed suicide by jumping off the walls with a rope around his neck.

FATHER ADEM ÇELİK GAVE A STATEMENT

The suspect's father, Adem Çelik, stated in his testimony to the police that Ayşenur Halil, who was killed in Eyüpsultan, was his son's girlfriend, and İkbal Uzuner, who was killed in Fatih, was his son's schoolmate. Çelik also expressed that his son had psychological issues and had previously received treatment in a hospital for this reason.

FOLLOWED PATIENT IN PSYCHIATRY SERVICE FOR 1 YEAR

In their investigations regarding the incident, the police determined that Semih Çelik had no criminal record, but had records for 2 missing persons and 1 attempted suicide, and that he had a total of 5 hospital records in the last year at Eyüpsultan State Hospital, Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital, and Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine hospitals.
