In the Bafra district of Samsun, Dr. Serdar Kıyak, who was arrested on charges of 'intentional murder' of his wife and child, attempted suicide by hanging himself in prison. After intervention, Kıyak was transferred to the hospital and was sent to another hospital for mental health treatment.
A great tragedy occurred in the Bafra district of Samsun. As a result of the car driven by 32-year-old doctor Serdar Kıyak, who works at Ondokuz Mayıs University Medical Faculty Hospital, plunging into the Kızılırmak River, his wife Gülşah Karaman Kıyak (34) and their 3-year-old son Alperen Poyraz drowned and lost their lives. Kıyak, who survived the incident with injuries, was arrested and imprisoned on charges of "intentional murder with premeditation."
ATTEMPTED SUICIDE IN PRISON
Kıyak, who attempted suicide by hanging himself in the prison where he was held, was rescued by the intervention of the staff. Initially taken to Bafra State Hospital, the doctor was examined by a psychiatry specialist after the intervention there. He was later transferred to Samsun Mental Health and Diseases Hospital for precautionary reasons.
ARRESTED FOR INTENTIONALLY KILLING HIS WIFE AND SON
Kıyak was arrested by the court on charges of "intentional murder with premeditation" for killing his wife Gülşah Karaman Kıyak (34) and his son Poyraz (at a young age) in the Kızılırmak River.
HE CRIED OUT WHILE CLINGING TO THE COFFIN
Serdar Kıyak, who was overwhelmed with tears at the funeral of his wife Gülşah Kıyak, who worked at the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, and their son, cried out, "My son!" while clinging to the coffin.
Kıyak, who gave contradictory statements during the investigation, was arrested on charges of "intentional murder with premeditation against a spouse" and "intentional murder with premeditation against a child or a defenseless descendant."
"I TRIED TO SAVE THEM" DEFENSE
Kıyak stated in his testimony, "We couldn't take the turn, we plunged into the river. I survived, but I tried to go back into the water to save them." However, a witness contradicted this by saying, "He came out of the water and waited on the shore. He made no effort to save them."
CHILLING MESSAGE
During the investigation, it was revealed that Gülşah Kıyak sent a message to her family shortly before the incident, saying, "He is threatening me."
STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF PROSECUTOR
Bafra Chief Public Prosecutor Olcay Aksoy stated in a press release regarding the incident that the judicial investigation is being conducted in a multifaceted manner, and said, "The suspect driver Serdar Kıyak has been arrested for 'intentional murder with premeditation'."
