The AK Party will reconsider the bill that proposes a deduction of 750 TL from cards.

15.10.2024 08:00

The bill presented to the Parliament last week, which proposes an annual deduction of 750 TL for credit card holders with a limit exceeding 100,000 TL, has sparked discussions. It has been learned that the AK Party will reconsider the regulation, taking into account the reactions it has received. There are also talks that the government may increase the limit threshold of 100,000 TL instead of completely abandoning the regulation.

The AK Party submitted a draft omnibus law to the Parliament last Friday, which is expected to reach a total annual volume of 80 billion lira in service fees and taxes for defense industry projects.

750 TL DEDUCTION PER CARD

With the omnibus law proposal expected to be discussed tomorrow in the TBMM Planning and Budget Commission, a deduction of 750 TL will be made for each credit card holder whose limit exceeds 100,000 lira.

AK PARTY MAY REEVALUATE THE REGULATION

While the omnibus law proposal has sparked discussions in the public, it has been learned that the AK Party will reconsider the regulation by taking into account the reactions.

"A NEW EVALUATION MAY BE MADE"

AK Party sources stated, "Currently, there are 126 million 450 thousand credit cards in Turkey. 17.5 million of these cards have a limit of 100,000 and above. An annual resource of around 13 billion lira is expected. This participation fee, which will be collected once a year, amounts to 60 lira per month. The expenses of our defense industry are very burdensome. But we also see the reactions. Perhaps a new evaluation may be made."

LIMIT THRESHOLD MAY BE INCREASED

According to a report by Türkiye newspaper, instead of completely abandoning the regulation, it is stated that the option of increasing the limit threshold of 100,000 lira may come to the agenda.
