Three attackers who killed a Palestinian businessman in Istanbul's Kağıthane district were captured in Romania.

PALESTINIAN BUSINESSMAN KILLED IN DEBT DISPUTE

The incident occurred around 23:30 in Dilaver Street, Hamidiye neighborhood of Kağıthane. Three people in a parked car were attacked by masked individuals with firearms. A.K. (30), who was behind the wheel in the car and identified as Palestinian, was killed at the scene, while Palestinian businessman F.M. was seriously injured and his security guard E.K. was injured in the leg. The suspects fled the scene of the attack. It was revealed that the motive behind the incident was a debt dispute.

STATEMENT FROM THE POLICE

There has been a new development regarding the suspects who fled abroad through Kırklareli after the attack. The General Directorate of Security announced that the three suspects were captured in Romania. The statement included the following: The Palestinian businessman who was killed in the armed attack by masked individuals in Kağıthane, Istanbul, on Sunday, August 18, at around 22:20, an urgent response was made to the scene upon the determination of an armed fight in Istanbul Kağıthane, and a comprehensive investigation was initiated by the Istanbul Police Department.

During the examination at the crime scene, it was determined that A.A.E.Q., F.M., and E.K. were injured as a result of gunshots, and it was determined that A.A.E.Q. died at the scene after the initial intervention by healthcare professionals. F.M., who was taken to the hospital, is in critical condition, while E.K. continues to receive treatment while conscious. As part of the investigation, it was determined through interviews with their families that G.S., T.S., S.A., S.A.S.O., L.E.E., and H.B. were the perpetrators of the incident, which was carried out due to a debt dispute.

CAPTURED IN ROMANIA

It was determined that the suspects, who fired shots at the victims and fled the scene by changing three different vehicles, left the country from Kırklareli on August 19, 2024, at 00:48 (approximately 2.5 hours after the incident). As a result of ongoing efforts and persistent follow-ups through correspondence with Interpol, the suspects G.S., T.S., and S.A. were captured and detained in Romania to be brought back to our country. A comprehensive investigation is ongoing regarding the matter. We will continue to pursue every crime and criminal both domestically and internationally.
