Burak Kara, who lives in the Muratpaşa district of Antalya, received a budgerigar as a birthday gift from his mother, Gülizar Yılmaz, in April.

BIRTHDAY GIFT TURNED HIS LIFE UPSIDE DOWN

On his birthday, Kaya took the bird out of its cage to let it fly inside the house the next day. However, the bird escaped from the terrace of their apartment on the 6th floor. Little Burak lost his balance while trying to reach the bird standing at the corner of the terrace and fell to the concrete ground from the 6th floor.

UNDERWENT 7 SURGERIES, PLATES WERE INSERTED IN HIS LEGS

The health team that arrived after a report from the surrounding people took the child to the hospital. Gülizar Yılmaz, who received the news of her son's fall, came to the hospital from her workplace. Doctors said that Burak, who had fractures in different parts of his body and his head, might have to have his arm and leg amputated. Burak, who underwent 7 surgeries, had plates inserted in his legs.

COULD NOT RECEIVE DISABILITY PENSION DUE TO 200 LIRA ALIMONY

Gülizar Yılmaz, who left her job to take care of her son, began to experience difficult days. For a while, Yılmaz's friends paid the rent for her and her son. Shortly after, Yılmaz, who found herself in a deadlock, took out loans from banks to cover her expenses. Struggling to pay her debts, Yılmaz could not secure a disability pension for her son due to the 200 lira alimony she received from her ex-husband.

WANTS TO WEAR HIS CLEATS THAT HE NEVER WORE

Burak, who loves playing football very much, can now only walk with a walker. Mother Yılmaz carries her son, who cannot start school and struggles to walk, on her back while going down the stairs. Little Burak's biggest dream is to recover and wear the Fenerbahçe jersey and cleats that were gifted to him on his birthday and play football with his friends in the streets.

"THEY SAID THERE WOULD BE 8 SURGERIES"

Gülizar Yılmaz said, "I bought a budgerigar for my son on his birthday. While I was not at home, he let the bird out, and it went to the terrace. He fell from the 6th floor while trying to get the bird by climbing on a stool. I received the news while I was at work. When I saw my son, he was covered in blood. They said at the hospital, 'His arm will be amputated.' Later, they said, 'His skull is fractured, and his lung is punctured.' Both of his legs were already shattered. They said, 'He will have 8 surgeries.' They told me that they needed to operate immediately because the bone was shattered, or they would have to amputate his leg. He had 5 surgeries on his leg and 2 for his eye. His surgeries will continue. Since he is in a growth phase, the plates in his leg will need to be changed," she said.

"WE HAVE BECOME UNABLE TO PAY OUR RENT"

Yılmaz, who stated that she has never increased the 200 lira alimony since her divorce 11 years ago, said, "I live alone with my son. I cannot work because I take care of him, and I have no income. My friends helped us survive with the help of their teachers, but I have now become unable to pay our rent. I had taken loans from banks to pay the rent, but I couldn't pay those either. Because of the 200 lira alimony that appears on my child's name, he cannot receive a disability pension. I am waiting for help until my son recovers," she said.

CARRIES HER SON ON HER BACK

Yılmaz, who said they are going through tough times with her son, said, "I carry my son on my back when going up and down the stairs. I miss him playing football the most. Just one day before he fell, I bought him his cleats and Fenerbahçe jerseys. When he saw them, he told me, 'I will go to school with these on Thursday. I will play with these.' He couldn't do that. The biggest thing that remains in my heart is this," she said.

"I REALLY WANT TO PLAY FOOTBALL"

Burak Kara, who said he wants to get up as soon as possible, stated, "I cannot play football or basketball with my friends. I cannot go to the sea and swim. I will not be able to go to school; the teachers will come to the house. I really want to play football. I really want to go to school and see my friends," he said.
