Bakiye Yeniçeri, who lives in Malkara, took her daughter S.Y. to Malkara State Hospital on August 2. Mother Yeniçeri stated that her child, who had bruises on her body, was dropped by a neighbor and was injured. After being examined, S.Y. was later returned to her family and sent home. The family took S.Y. back to Malkara State Hospital on the evening of September 8. Doctors examining S.Y., who was in a faint state, reported the situation to the police upon seeing signs of assault and bruises. S.Y., who was in critical condition, was transferred to Tekirdağ İsmail Fehmi Cumalıoğlu City Hospital. It was determined that S.Y. had suffered a brain hemorrhage, and findings indicating physical violence were obtained, leading to surgery. The hospital also sent DNA samples taken from S.Y. to the Tekirdağ Forensic Medicine Institution for examination.

SISTER UNDER PROTECTION

While the Malkara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the incident, the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services consulted the family and neighbors. Bakiye Yeniçeri claimed that her daughter was injured after falling from a television unit left by neighbors. The Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services filed a criminal complaint against mother and stepfather Sanlı Ö., while the family's other 5-year-old daughter was placed under protection.

5 SUSPECTS DETAINED

As part of the investigation, which was subject to a confidentiality order, Tekirdağ Police Department teams detained 5 people, including Bakiye Yeniçeri. In the investigation, Bakiye Yeniçeri, her partner Sanlı Ö. with whom she lived in a religious marriage, neighbor Kani A., and two neighbor children aged 13 and 14 were arrested. It was reported that Bakiye Yeniçeri, who was brought out wearing a police vest, was arrested for 'Neglecting a Child.' Gürcün stated that the 2-year-old child had been sexually abused, saying, "It is a matter of fact that the mother concealed and hid evidence despite noticing the condition of her child regarding the incident. This was the reason for the mother's arrest yesterday. Because the mother, unfortunately, is hiding the evidence she obtained by not sharing it with the judicial authorities, despite understanding the unfortunate sexual abuse case her child suffered. Subsequently, she failed to take her child to the hospital for 3 days, acting against her duty of care. Unfortunately, she caused our child to fall into the current situation. Due to the severity of the incident, our institutions took swift action. The report has been finalized and the definitive report is present in the file. This was already the reason for the arrest of 2 suspects. Unfortunately, it has been confirmed by forensic reports that our child has been sexually abused," he said.

MOTHER'S STATEMENT REVEALED

On the other hand, the statement of mother Bakiye Yeniçeri, who was found to have a criminal record for drug use and threatening the police, has emerged. Yeniçeri stated in her testimony, "When there was work, I would leave my child at Kani A.'s house. In the first incident, they told me that my child had fallen. When I came home and looked at my child, there were bruises on her body. I took her to the hospital, I said the child had fallen, and then they treated her and sent her home. In the last incident, when I went to my neighbor and looked at my child, I saw that there were bruises again. She was faint, so I called 112. After that, we took her to Malkara State Hospital. They transferred her to the city hospital from there," she said.
