With the arrival of spring in Erzincan, mushrooms that grow naturally in nature have reappeared. The caşır mushroom, which grows especially on the slopes of Keşiş Mountain and Munzur Mountains, attracts great interest due to its high protein value and taste.
COLLECTED THROUGH DIFFICULT HIKES
The kilogram price of the mushroom, which grows in regions above approximately 2,000 meters altitude, has reached up to 2,000 lira this year. Its rarity and collection on steep terrains have contributed to the price increase.
Citizens who set out in the morning to collect mushrooms said they gathered them after long walks. They stated that despite the challenging terrain, they forget all their fatigue when they see the mushrooms.
GROWS MULTIPLE FROM THE SAME ROOT
The caşır mushroom, which grows in areas called "vein" or "furrow" in nature, often emerges multiple times from the same root. Locals consume the mushroom by sautéing it in butter, grilling it, or using it in rice and meat dishes.
Coşkun Menek and Kemal Arduç said they collected mushrooms after a walk lasting about 4 hours, expressing that spending time in nature and finding mushrooms is a special excitement for them.
