The Chief Physician and Responsible Manager of the American Hospital, Dr. İsmail Bozkurt (59), suddenly collapsed while walking near his home in the Etiler area of Istanbul in the morning hours. The chief physician, who had no known illnesses, was known for his regular exercise and meticulousness regarding food choices. WHO IS İSMAİL BOZKURT?Dr. İsmail Bozkurt, born in Esslingen, Germany, had been serving as the chief physician and responsible manager of the American Hospital since 2014. After graduating from St. Georg Austrian High School in Istanbul (1984), he studied medicine at the University of Vienna. After graduating in 1993, he completed his specialization training in family medicine at Şişli Etfal Hospital in Istanbul (1996). In 2015, he also received a master's degree in hospital management and quality in healthcare from Berlin University. Dr. Bozkurt started working at the American Hospital as a family medicine specialist in 2001, was appointed as the deputy responsible manager in 2011, became the continuous quality improvement manager in 2013, and took on the roles of chief physician and responsible manager in 2014.
