Witnesses spoke about the murder of Serpil Gül by her estranged husband in the middle of the street in Arnavutköy district of Istanbul. Orhan Güngör, who said he was on the balcony at the time of the incident, used the following words: "He fired two shots at the woman. After the woman fell to the ground, he pulled the trigger again and shot her in the head. I think he couldn't gather the courage to shoot himself. He couldn't do it."

The incident took place in Arnavutköy Taşoluk Neighborhood around 13:45. According to the information obtained, Serpil Gül (35), who has been in the process of divorce for 2 years, and Harun Gül (40) came together yesterday for the circumcision ceremony of one of their two children. However, this morning, an argument broke out between the two over the issue of "you take care of the children". After the argument, Harun Gül chased his wife Serpil Gül in the street with a gun. Gül shot his wife in the head three times in the middle of the street, causing her to fall to the ground and die.

WAITED BY HER SIDE AFTER KILLING HER

Many police teams and ambulances arrived at the scene upon notification. Allegedly, Harun Gül, who did not allow the ambulance to enter the street, waited by his dead wife's side. Harun Gül, who was called by the police through the vehicle megaphone at the scene, surrendered to the police with his gun.

Feyzullah Katmerlikaya, a resident of the scene, stated that they thought someone had fallen to the ground and said, "An ambulance arrived, but they did not let it enter the street. So, we turned back to understand the severity of the incident. He had a gun and did not allow anyone to approach. The police, people, and the ambulance arrived, but they couldn't get close to him because he didn't let them. The man surrendered himself. At that moment, the people in the neighborhood wanted to lynch him, and the police barely saved him. As the residents of the neighborhood, this is the first time something like this has happened to us. We are very saddened."

Meanwhile, Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş stated that they will intervene in the case and follow it until the killer receives the harshest punishment.
