Yesterday, in Eyüpsultan, Istanbul, a driver who did not comply with the police's "Stop" warning and fled in a car with the license plate 35 AS 0254 was stopped by being blocked on Adem Yavuz Street in Yunus Emre Neighborhood. During the search, a woman's body was found in the trunk, shot in the head. Following this, the driver Engin Çelik was taken into custody. Investigations revealed that Engin Çelik had killed his wife Ayşe Çelik, who was in the process of divorce, by shooting her with a gun after an argument inside the car, and chilling details about the brutality emerged. HE CONFESSED TO THE MURDERIt was learned that Engin Çelik, who was interrogated at the Homicide Bureau of the Public Security Branch, confessed to the murder in his statement. The suspect stated that his wife called him to her side, saying, "I filed for divorce. You need to come to the Gaziosmanpaşa Courthouse." HE KILLED HIS WIFE DURING AN ARGUMENT ON THE WAY TO THE BUS STATIONIn his statement, Engin Çelik said that his wife wanted to go to the bus station after leaving the courthouse, and he said, "I will drop you off," taking Ayşe Çelik into his car. While on the way to the bus station, it was determined that Çelik tried to convince his wife not to proceed with the divorce, but when he received a rejection, the argument escalated. It was found that Engin Çelik lost control and committed the murder as the argument intensified. It was learned that the suspect encountered police teams while wandering around, not knowing what to do after the incident. In the footage, Engin Çelik is seen leaving the courthouse with a suitcase in hand, followed by Ayşe Çelik. HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE COURTAfter his procedures at the Homicide Bureau, suspect Engin Çelik was transferred to the courthouse, where he did not respond to reporters' questions about "Why did you commit the murder?"
