Members of a gang accused of causing the deaths of babies in intensive care for the sake of money appeared before a judge for the first time. The statements of a grieving mother who came to the courthouse for the trial, which involves 47 defendants, 22 of whom are in custody, sent chills down the spine.
By collaborating with the personnel working at the 112 Emergency Call Center in Istanbul, 47 suspects, who are alleged to have caused the deaths of emergency infant patients by transferring them to the neonatal units of private hospitals they had previously agreed upon and profiting unjustly, appeared before a judge today.

The account of a grieving mother who came to the courthouse for the case that has gripped Turkey was chilling. The grieving mother, who stated that her child had undergone multiple incorrect blood draws, said, "They hadn't even changed my child's diaper. How did my baby endure that pain? They literally abandoned my child... Didn't they have any fear of God? They kept saying my child would die, and they were laughing while saying this. Only God and I know what I went through. I was literally waiting for my child to die. They never said anything good. They abandoned the children to death to get money from SSK."
