The New York Times, based in the United States, reported that the position of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was clarified as a result of months of surveillance by the CIA. Following the intelligence, it was stated that the timing of the operation by the U.S. and Israel was altered to carry out the attack. Long-range missiles were used in the attack, while senior Iranian officials were present at the compound; Khamenei was in a nearby building.
The New York Times (NYT), based in the United States, addressed the details of the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei in a US-Israel attack. NYT stated that the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) had obtained clearer intelligence regarding Khamenei's location. It was reported that US intelligence had gathered detailed information about Khamenei's whereabouts and movement habits as a result of months of surveillance activities. During this process, it was learned that senior Iranian officials were expected to hold a meeting at a leadership complex in central Tehran yesterday morning, and Khamenei was also expected to attend the meeting.
AFTER INTELLIGENCE, THE TIMING OF THE OPERATION WAS CHANGED
Following the new intelligence, it was expressed that the US and Israel aimed to maximize the benefit from the obtained information by changing the timing of the operation. It was reported that the attack began with fighter jets taking off from their bases at around 06:00 local Israeli time. It was noted that a limited number of aircraft were used in the operation, but these aircraft were equipped with long-range and high-precision munitions.
IRANIAN OFFICIALS WERE AT THE COMPOUND, KHAMENEI WAS IN A NEARBY BUILDING
About two hours and five minutes after the aircraft took off, it was stated that long-range missiles launched around 09:40 Tehran time hit the mentioned compound. During the attack, it was reported that senior Iranian national security officials were in a building at the compound, while Khamenei was in another structure at a close distance. Accordingly, while the US and Israel were preparing to launch an attack on Iran, the CIA clarified Khamenei's location.
