AKOM has warned that a cold wave from Iceland will be effective in Istanbul starting today. It is predicted that temperatures in some regions of the country, especially in Istanbul, will drop to freezing levels between 5 and 0 degrees starting from tonight. The Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) for the megacity Istanbul has issued a warning against freezing cold temperatures. In the statement made, it was noted that the cloudy weather in Istanbul will give way to cold weather and storms of Icelandic origin starting today.

According to forecasts, northern and inland regions of Turkey, especially Istanbul, are preparing to be affected by successive cold air waves coming from Iceland. The cold weather is expected to be effective for the next 6 to 8 days. It is predicted that temperatures will decrease to around 5 degrees starting from tonight, and regionally, they will drop to freezing levels around 0 degrees.

On the other hand, AKOM shared that the wind is expected to be effective at times in the form of a storm (30-60 km/h) and that intermittent rainfall is anticipated, with rain being seen in most parts of the city. It was noted that in the high regions of the European Side's Arnavutköy, Eyüpsultan, Sarıyer, and the Anatolian Side's Beykoz, Çekmeköy, Şile, Kartal, Sancaktepe, Sultanbeyli, Pendik, and Tuzla, mixed rain and light snow could be observed, which may lead to icing and frost events.
