The commission fees of banks are increasing the economic burden on citizens.

The President of TESK, Bendevi Palandöken, stated that the commission fees charged by banks to citizens constitute a significant burden, emphasizing that these fees should be regulated fairly. Palandöken pointed out that banks need to take steps to reduce the costs arising from the digitalization process.

The President of the Turkish Confederation of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (TESK), Bendevi Palandöken, who pointed out that the commission fees charged by banks are a significant burden on citizens and tradesmen, stated, "The measures related to the registration of the economy within the framework of the Ministry of Finance's decision are good. However, there is a problem with both the taxpayer and the citizen complying with these. Banks also need to take responsibility."

"BANKS CHARGE SERVICE FEES IN EVERY ENVIRONMENT"

While the economic difficulties in the market are felt by all citizens, Bendevi Palandöken, the President of TESK, emphasized that banks need to take responsibility to support citizens, saying, "With the increasing use of cards and digitalization today, citizens expecting a decrease in banking costs are facing different expenses every day. Fees are charged for every transaction made at the branch, ATM, and electronically. Although cardless transactions in the digital environment are encouraged, service fees are also charged for these transactions. Similarly, in remittances, EFTs, and internet banking, whatever you do, there are different fees during working hours and outside of working hours. There needs to be such a standard so that citizens know. When citizens withdraw their money, there is a difficulty in not being able to withdraw more than a certain limit, which is 80-100 lira, depending on the amount."

"LIMITS NEED TO BE REDEFINED"

Stating that limits need to be determined, Palandöken said, "This will be a bit more challenging in the registered economy. Since you will have to deposit the money through the bank because you cannot pay in cash, limits need to be defined. When you deposit money through the bank and send it to another branch of the same bank, as I said, it is unfair to charge these fees. What needs to be done for this is to provide support, not a burden, to citizens. Citizens need to be warned about these issues. When you receive your pension, there should not be a different fee when depositing and withdrawing normal daily money or bringing it from another branch to your account. Therefore, if you take a taxi to bring that money to that branch, it may not cost as much, or if you go by public transport, but unfortunately, on one hand, you want things to be more practical and easier, to be registered, while on the other hand, a burden is added on top of that. Commissions need to be abolished. At least it should be outside a certain limit. Now, when this is up to 7,000 lira, people will face a significant problem when they want to use this for installments or other alternative expenses. This needs to be prevented as soon as possible so that citizens do not suffer from this issue," he expressed.
