The Competition Authority has launched an investigation into MUYA, a slipper and shoe manufacturer, on the grounds of alleged anti-competitive practices towards its authorized dealers. It has been claimed that the company intervened in the pricing and sales policies of its dealers.
The Competition Authority has decided to initiate an investigation against Muya Polyurethane Rubber Industry and Trade Inc. (MUYA), which operates in the production and distribution of slippers and shoes.
REASON COMPETITION-RESTRICTING PRACTICES
In a statement made on the website of the Competition Authority, it was reported that an investigation was launched against MUYA, which operates in the production and distribution of slippers and shoes in women's, men's, children's, and medical categories, due to allegations of engaging in competition-restricting practices towards authorized sellers in Turkey.
It was stated in the announcement that the company is accused of determining the resale prices of both retailers selling through physical stores and dealers operating on e-commerce platforms, and of preventing passive sales by dealers. The statement included the following expressions: "In other words, it is alleged that the company prevents dealers and retailers from selling products at prices they determine and from making sales to meet product demands from customers in different regions. It is known that orders placed over the internet are also considered within the scope of passive sales. Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Authority, it will be evaluated whether these practices restrict competition, and it will be determined whether the company has violated the Law on the Protection of Competition in light of the evidence."
Furthermore, the investigation decisions taken by the Authority do not mean that the enterprises under investigation have violated the relevant law and are facing or will face sanctions.
