Automotive giant Volvo Cars has decided to recall more than 40,000 electric EX30 models after detecting overheating in batteries and a potential fire risk. The company announced that necessary inspections and part replacements will be carried out free of charge on the affected vehicles.

Swedish car manufacturer Volvo Cars has decided to recall more than 40,323 vehicles after detecting a risk of overheating and potential fire in the battery packs of its electric SUV model EX30.

FIRE HAZARD

The recall decision was made due to the potential for overheating of high-voltage batteries and the associated risk of fire. It was announced that the battery modules in the affected EX30 models will be replaced or rechecked.

NECESSARY MAINTENANCE WILL BE DONE FOR FREE

According to Volvo's statement, the models included in the recall consist of the single-motor long-range EX30 and the dual-motor performance versions. Company officials reported that they have begun contacting affected vehicle owners and that the necessary technical maintenance will be carried out free of charge.

HAD RECALLED 44 THOUSAND VEHICLES

Discussions about battery-related safety in the electric vehicle sector have been increasing recently. The risk of fire in the event of battery overheating is prompting manufacturers to issue recalls and perform software/battery updates. Similarly, Volkswagen had recalled approximately 44,000 vehicles from its ID.4 models due to the risk of overheating and fire in high-voltage batteries. It was reported that both software updates and battery replacements would be carried out in this context.

Volvo's decision once again highlighted the importance of electric vehicle battery safety. Experts emphasize that manufacturers must take swift and comprehensive measures against any potential risks in the thermal management systems of batteries.
