In the South American country of Suriname, drilling operations conducted by a Canadian mining company have resulted in the discovery of a gold vein with purity above industry standards. Studies related to the massive reserve, which is said to be sufficient for the entire world, have detected 11.88 grams (g/t) of gold per ton over a length of 22.5 meters.
A high-grade gold deposit that has caused a significant stir in the mining sector has been discovered in the South American country of Suriname. 11.88 GRAMS OF GOLD PER TON
Founders Metals, operating in the Guiana Shield region in southeastern Suriname, reached a section that extends for 22.5 meters and contains 11.88 grams of gold per ton during its initial drilling operations at the Maria Geralda site. The discovery's significance was heightened by surpassing the threshold of 10 grams per ton, which is considered the "high quality" limit in the mining sector.
Experts indicate that this finding is remarkable on a global scale in terms of both reserve size and purity rate.
1.7 BILLION YEAR OLD GEOLOGICAL REGION
The discovery was made on the Guiana Shield, known for its approximately 1.7 billion years of geological history and as one of the richest mineral belts in the world. Experts state that the cracks formed along the fault lines in the region filling with quartz and gold-rich fluids over time have contributed to the high tenor of the deposit.
