The self-sacrificing father Adnan Aslan, who has been collecting waste paper in Adana for 33 years to educate his children, has seen his efforts pay off. His daughter Latife Aslan, who supported her father in the hot weather, graduated from university as the top student in her department, becoming the pride of her family.
Adnan Aslan, who lost his father when he was only 8 years old, spent his childhood on the streets and in damp houses. Guided by the principles of 'discipline, perseverance, and determination' that he learned from his illiterate mother, Aslan dedicated his life to earning a livelihood from the streets so that his children would not face the same hardships. The reward for this devoted father, who has been supporting his children's education for years with money earned from collecting trash, came through his daughter's success.
"I STRUGGLED FOR THEIR EDUCATION" Calling on young people to appreciate their fathers and recognize the effort put in, Adnan Aslan said, "I struggled for my children's education so they wouldn't face difficulties in the future. Thank God, I have no regrets. Fatherhood isn't just about bringing money home and then going out at night. That is definitely not fatherhood. Young people need to truly see the struggle and effort their fathers put in for them. See these things; how a father fights, what he does. According to that, you too crown this struggle with your successes."
"I MAY WORK ANOTHER 10 YEARS, BUT I WON'T GIVE UP" Emphasizing that he will continue working for his children's future, Aslan stated, "My son finished high school; that was as far as my strength could take him. My daughter thankfully completed her university studies. She finished her department in foreign languages and tourism with honors and as the top student. Today she is preparing for the KPSS exam and wants to improve herself further. I am behind my children all the way. I may work another 10 years, or maybe another 5, but I won't give up. My message to all fathers is this: Fight, don't give up; for our beautiful tomorrows, our children, and our futures."
"MY GREATEST HERO IS MY FATHER" Latife Aslan, who graduated top of her class from the Tourism and Travel Services department at Çukurova University Vocational School, highlighted her father's efforts for his family. Stating that she tries to support her father in the Adana heat, Aslan said, "Today, you witnessed the effort he puts in for me, all his children, and his family. He is truly a great father, a great person. I will always continue to follow in his footsteps. It's hard to work in this heat, and I try to support my father in my own way. As a family, as a neighborhood, and for the sake of humanity, we do our best. We didn't come here easily. Not everyone has a hero, but my greatest hero is my father. I am grateful for every effort and every drop of sweat he has given for us so far. Yes, going to university is wonderful; it makes a person skilled, but what's important is not education, but graduating from the school of life. Today, I continue my education by studying for the KPSS, but when I come to my father's side, I also get to see many things about life. We can get an education in all areas of life and at any age, but graduating from the school of life is not granted to everyone."
