ARMY SENDS SEARCH RADAR TO THE REGIONIt was reported that the Indian army sent search radars to the region to help find those trapped under the debris. Shashi Tharoor, a Member of Parliament from the Congress Party, stated that he wrote a letter to the Indian Minister of Home Affairs, Amit Shah, calling for a national disaster declaration due to the landslides in the region. 200 HOUSES DESTROYEDIn Kerala, landslides occurred on July 30 due to heavy rains, causing serious damage to infrastructure and roads. 200 houses in the affected Chooralmala village were destroyed. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a post on his X account, used the expression "My prayers are with everyone injured and those who lost their loved ones." Officials stated that Kerala is facing one of the biggest natural disasters in its history. The Indian army announced on August 1 that 1,500 soldiers were deployed to the affected area due to the disaster. More than 8,300 people were evacuated to relief camps in the state due to the disaster. The Indian Meteorological Department warned that there will be more rainfall in some areas affected by the disaster in the next few days.
